Why Is My Smart Thermostat Not Connecting to Wi-Fi?

Most smart thermostats fail to connect due to weak signal, incorrect Wi‑Fi password, or incompatible network settings. Power glitches, router reboots, or 5 GHz–only networks also cause drops. Our Columbia team installs and configures smart thermostats, and can troubleshoot on site.

Quick checks:

  • Reboot router and thermostat.
  • Confirm 2.4 GHz is enabled and SSID/password are correct.
  • Move thermostat closer or add a Wi‑Fi extender.
  • Update the thermostat/app firmware.
  • Disable MAC filtering, then retry pairing.
